It is
my honour and privilege to organize the Sustainable Energy Day 2002, and to
invite you to participate in this important event in Melbourne at Monash
University on Wednesday 17th of July 2002. The Sustainable Energy
Day 2002 will maintain the scientific and technical excellence of the Past. The
structure of the Sustainable Energy Day 2002 will include review lectures,
which were a great success in the past. The exhibition has become an
increasingly important part of the Sustainable Energy Day. Researchers and
industrialists will come together as before, to work to progress towards the
goal of making clean energy a major force in the world. I look forward to
welcoming you to the Sustainable Energy Day 2002.
Introduction
Worldwide,
thousands of initiatives and projects involving energy efficiency and renewable
energy sources have shown how sustainable energy solutions strongly contribute
to protecting the environment and climate and to developing local, regional and
global economies. Many recent policy initiatives, including those by the
Australian government, show a strong commitment to sustainable energy.
Continuing
in a long tradition of successful symposiums, workshops and seminars already
held at Monash University, the sustainable energy Day - 2002 will provide information
on major sustainable policy developments. This seminar will once again provide
a forum for presenting sustainable energy solutions; for planning political
initiatives; and for launching new projects and starting partnerships.
The
Sustainable energy Day - 2002 aims to provide new impulses to the participating
experts and decision makers as they meet the challenge of transforming the
world's energy systems towards sustainability.
Participants
will include representatives from Australian government and utilities, national
and local public administrations; decision makers, and experts from the energy
industry, universities and research institutions; technology providers;
consultants.
