Questions and Answers

  • For the Engineering Design unit, do we have to use the Glomerida board? Is it possible to use Beaglebone Black or Raspberry Pi (or "XXX" processor board)? You can certainly use anything you want, but its cost needs to be deducted from your $120 budget. Also, consider this as well: If you use a system which no one uses, you may miss the benefits of the collective experience that exists in the laboratory.
  • Can we have a 5 or more person team? Unfortunately no.
  • We would like to try the camera, could you please tell us more about this? Camera board is "OV7670 Display CMOS Camera Module". On eBay it is sold for approximately $4.00. I think this Web site is a good starting point for obtaining information about its usage and interfacing with processor boards.
  • We are a group of four international students and don't have the cutting tools for building the chassis of our robot. What should we do? You don't need sophisticated tools to create your robots. Balsa wood sheets or blocks, corrugated cardboard, plastic sheets, even drinking straws or similar easy-to-find and easy-to-cut material is sufficient. All the tools you require can be bought for around $21.00 (which is a cost of $5.25 per team member):
