The DS18B20 temperature sensor is a transducer attached to the smart packet radio board which allows real-time measurement of the temperature in the immediate vicinity of the SPR. Using a 'one-wire' protocol for requesting and sending data the temperature can be read and then returned to the host terminal in a string format. Temperature data can be read by placing a jumper between ground and Pin 6 on Port A. It should be noted that the temperature read by the sensor is slightly higher than room temperature due to the heat generated by the transceiver and MCU during operation.
