eBug Troubleshooting Notes

  • If the e-Bug hangs with the Kinect Expansion Board attached, please check the following
    • Logic board: Ensure that the rotary switch (under the LCD screen) is set to 1
    • BB expansion board: Ensure that the PWR EN jumper pin is ON
    • BB expansion board: Ensure that the 3.3V EN jumper pin is OFF
  • Clearing gas gage failures
    • Firmware 1.18 upwards, gas gauge permanent failure flags are now cleared by doing the following: Hold down the TEST button during the PF error 3-second reset countdown (on LCD) until ReleaseToClearPF text appears on the LCD (then release button).
    • Commonly encountered PFStatus values (information http://code.google.com/p/monash-wsrnlab/wiki/LiPoGasGauge)
      • 0x6000 PFVSHUT + SUV - safety undervoltage permanent failure
      • 0x2010 SUV - safety undervoltage permanent failure + cell-imbalance (at rest method) permanent failure
      • 0x2000 SUV - safety undervoltage permanent failure
  • Discharge feature
    • Discharge feature to put battery into a storage state (50% capacity) is activated when TEST push-button switch is held down after power-on. This initiates the battery discharge.
  • Entering the test mode
    1. turn the eBug on, wait until "run tests?" message appears on the LCD screen
    2. press and release the test button
    3. A test routine/stage is repeated by pressing TEST for at least 1 second and releasing.
  • Entering the demo mode
    1. turn the eBug on, wait until "run tests?" message appears on the LCD screen
    2. press and hold the test button until "Demo Mode" message appears on the LCD screen.
