The threaded packet generator program generates a certain number of messages of a certain length at a certain rate, which is handled by a timer thread – these requirements can be set at the command line when running WiSeNeT, otherwise it will default to preset values as per the global variables. This message is then encoded into data (or an application layer frame) and passed down to the network layer along with relevant information to be transmitted to the destination. Note that packet generator packets are of type TYPE_DATA and APP_PKGEN. Once the required number of messages is generated, the program exits and in turn begins the termination of the rest of WiSeNeT running on that node.
