Using Glomerida Board On Your Own PC

Here is the procedure:

  1. Install the Integrated Development Environment: PSoC Creator
  2. Install termite. We use it to communicate with Glomerida Board via an (emulated) serial port.
  3. Install the PSoC USB UART serial communications driver ( USBUART_cdc.inf). Please note the following, the driver is unsigned so:
Lionel has provided the following notes about his driver installation experience (thank you Lionel): When connecting the board to your computer for the first time, Windows may automatically install its own USB driver, and as a result serial port communications will not work. You will know this has occurred if under Other devices in the Device Manager there are two components called UART Control and UART Data with warning signs. Disabling automatic driver installation does not seem to fix this issue. To install the Cypress USB UART driver:
  1. Go to Devices and Printers, and double click the board under the Unspecified devices list. Go to the hardware tab and double click the USB Composite Device component. Click the Change Settings button and browse to the Driver tab.
  2. Click Update Driver, and Browse my computer for driver software. Do not browse to the folder with the .inf file in this step. Instead, choose Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  3. Click on the Have Disk button, and browse to the .inf file here. Click OK, and then select the Cypress USB UART Component. Click Next and the driver will be updated.
  4. Remove the board and plug it back in. It should now work.
